So here's the dining room with the ductwork boxed in:
I'm absolutely fine with the way this looks; I like symmetry, and now I have symmetrical pieces of wall (if not symmetrical corners). Who knows what cool thing I may do with this new bump in the corner?
This afternoon a huge truck came and delivered a couple of 12-foot-long pieces of drywall. Let's just say they did NOT have an easy time getting those into this little house . . . .
The other task for today was bringing home boxes of floor tile and backsplash tile, which will be stored in the basement until it's time for them to be installed. Never let it be said that things dragged on because I didn't make decisions or pick up materials I was supposed to get!
Here are the tiles, and though you can't see him in this shot, Skipper is lying nearby, guarding them:
One other good thing today: we sold our old electric range -- listed it on kijiji.com and sold it over the weekend. In fact, I think I could have sold it four times, and now Ray is thinking he needs to get into the used appliance sales business. Funny man (though come to think of it, some additional income is not to be sneezed at just now . . . ).
Here's Victory, wondering where her stove went (it's been adorning the living room for a week):
("I could have sworn it was here this morning . . . .")
Tomorrow drywall finishing and wall prep take place (that will likely carry over into Wednesday), and then Thursday will be painting the kitchen/dining room day.
And meanwhile, the sun continues to shine, which makes everything feel lighter and brighter (even having to live in a couple of upstairs rooms). The only slightly odd thing we've found is that when you're living upstairs and the TV is in your bedroom, and then you finally finish everything (including washing dishes in the shiny big "sink") and sit down to watch a little bit of TV in the evening (the Tim Horton's Brier, for example), you end up lying down instead of sitting because the bed is the only available place to be. Then you figure, "Well, I might as well put my pyjamas on since I'm already here on the bed . . . it'll be more comfortable," and then you figure, "Well, I might as well get under the covers since I'm already in my pyjamas . . . and it's a little chilly," and then suddenly you realize it's 8:15 and you're already nodding off.
Then again, maybe that's just me . . . .
